Paprika

We are very lucky to have abundant wildlife living with us here in our garden.
It is getting rather hot here during the day now
and as I was working away on my books yesterday
I noticed a little joey (who we christened Paprika) outside my studio doors.
She has been away from her mother's pouch for about a month now.
Little Paprika found a nice shady spot
and as she is still suckling she spent the whole day
patiently waiting for her mum to come back to their usual spot.

Wallabies can be very sweet little creatures.
(if you are lucky, they even talk to you with a quiet little bleat)

Little Silver Tree

Am working furiously to get a few more books done for my exhibition in January.
(with Christmas Hols, New Years and a trip to Japan all thrown in, time is ebbing away)
Am trying very hard not to "pump out" books though,
no point making second hand books into second rate works!

Cloudland

Another finished piece.
Called this one "Cloudland" because of the photo in the work,
which is a photo of my parents at an old dance hall of the same name.
The way the pages and tags sit also are a little bit cloud-like.

LTD EC4 Altered Book

Back on the books again.
Am very pleased with the simplicity of this one.
Especially like the way the tunnel in the book turned out
and the old world feel of the paper domes with the little black buttons
on the red cover.

Miles to go

I find the above image intriguing.  It is by matt wisniewski.
Matt uses found images and recontextualizes them into interesting artworks.
I couldn't see any titles for individual works on this link,
but he appears to group his works into titled sets
(This particular one is from his 2011 series "Miles to go".).
