A different cup of tea

 

 

A different style of teacup today:  "Sunday Best Cups":  passed down from a different generation who enjoyed  a nice cup of tea with milk and sugar and a slice of buttered bread or home baked fruit cake at the CWA or in the kitchen, along with a good ol' chinwag (mind you I probably wouldn't say no to the nice piece of cake and a listen in on the chinwag!).

The top teaset (my favourite of the three) was passed down to me from my maternal grandfather's sister, Great Aunt Kate, who lived in a Queenslander on the hill overlooking Burleigh Beach (Qld) until around 1970. I often wonder what she'd think of Burleigh's main shopping strip, James Street, nowadays!  It's stamped "Kingston" A.B.J. Grafton China (made in England).

The second teaset came to me via my only uncle's wife, Aunty Thel.  She lived in Cessnock NSW in a miner's cottage until about 1980. It's stamped "156" Westminster Fine China (Australia).

The third teaset also came from Thelma and is stamped Royal Vale A1 Bone China 1513v (made in England).

 

Tea Cups

I seem to have amassed quite an array of tea cups, both souvenirs and gifts
They're small, practical, everyday reminders of happy times, people and places. Lovely to share tea with.
My favourite tea is genmaicha. A Japanese green tea blended with roasted rice.  Yummy toasty flavour and aroma.
